Necklaces
The copper pieces of this necklace come from refrigerator tubing that I sawed
into small pieces; you can still see text stamped into some of them. Each
piece is 0.5 inches in diameter and approximately 0.5 inches long. The copper
is darkened with liver of sulfur and riveted to the plastic tubing with small
pieces of copper tubing. The rivets are clearly visible through the plastic
tubing, giving the necklace a visible interior dimension. The clasp is magnetic,
and closes inside one of the copper pieces so it's not obvious or distracting
when the necklace is worn. This necklace fits closely around one's neck like a
choker; it is 17.25 inches long.

This necklace wouldn't look out of place on an ancient goddess leading an
army to battle. Each section is hinged to the next on its underside, giving the
necklace a snakelike quality of movement. The necklace closes on a clasp
between the two endpieces, which, with their curved points, resemble claws.
The copper will darken with time and wear, eventually deepening to a rich
brown color. This necklace is nearly 28 inches long, dipping seductively low on
its wearer's chest or back.
